Pedro Gomes

Pedro Gomes obtained his PhD in Human Biology at the University of Porto. He did postdoctoral studies at UCLA (USA) and later at the University of Minho. He was then hired as Assistant Researcher at the University of Porto and later at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra. He is also Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto. As a consequence, he has obtained a multidisciplinary background in several disciplines (Pharmacology, Physiology, Endocrinology and Aging) and a broad set of skills in cellular and animal models. His current research interests are focused on the role of mammalian sirtuins, a class of NAD+-dependent protein deacetylases, in metabolic regulation, particularly in the setting of obesity and diabetes.
